Wine Australia’s Largest-Ever Pavilion at ProWine China

Wine Australia will bring its largest-ever pavilion to ProWine China 2019 (12–14 November), showcasing the dynamic Australian wine sector to thousands of international trade visitors at China’s leading international wine and spirits event.

A record 61 Australian wine exhibitors will show more than 100 of Australia’s finest wine brands from over 25 wine regions, over three days of wine tastings, master classes and education seminars. The line-up will include several newcomers to the Chinese market, along with wines that have been awarded 90+ points by internationally-recognised wine critics.

Wine Australia Chief Executive Officer Andreas Clark said, “China remains Australia’s largest export market by value, with exports growing 7 per cent in the year ended June 2019 to a record $1.2 billion.”

“The scale of this year’s Australian wine pavilion at ProWine China reflects the importance of this market to our exporters.”

“In our five years participating at the trade show, this is our most ambitious pavilion to date and we are sure it will be a popular destination for Chinese importers, distributors and suppliers,” he said.

Key highlights of the grand pavilion include:

  • Six on-pavilion masterclasses
  • Three forum room masterclasses, based on Wine Australia’s award-winning Australian Wine Discovered program
  • Regionally-focused masterclasses, presented by well-respected educators Master Sommelier Lu Yang, Corinne Mui and Terry Xu

ProWine, ChinaAmong the forum room masterclasses, ‘McLaren Vale Grenache Greats’ examines a pivotal varietal in the region’s viticultural history and conveys a perfect example of diverse regional winemaking expression, from vibrant and juicy easy drinking styles to rich and structured wines suitable for cellaring.

The two ‘Margaret River World-class Cabernet Sauvignon’ masterclasses explore a pristine Mediterranean climate and viticultural paradise in the southwest corner of Australia, telling the story of the region’s world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and the unique Houghton clone, now recognised on the world stage for its elegance, balance and graceful age-ability.

Additionally, ‘Foundations of Australian Wine’ introduces the world to Australian wine and the people, places and processes that make it so exciting. This masterclass will explore the innovative and diverse wines of exceptional quality that make Australia one of the most historically interesting wine growing regions on earth.ProWine, ChinaThe guided tasting masterclasses will introduce participants to some of Australia’s best-known varieties and styles from iconic wine regions. Wine Australia’s enhanced presence at ProWine China 2019 is supported by the Australian Government’s AUD$50m Export and Regional Wine Support Package.
