Innovative resort group The Lux Collective which operates a number of ultra-chic resorts in Mauritius, The Maldives, China and Turkey is on an expansion drive, with a collection of newly created brands under its umbrella, and an exciting new pipeline of projects. Julian Hagger (Executive Vice President, LUX* APAC Operations & Global Sales & Marketing) tells us more about the group and their plans.
The Lux Collective comprises four distinctive brands, each with its own particular personality and energy, allowing us to develop and offer the perfect portfolio of hotel experiences that will allow our guests to celebrate the simple pleasures of life to the full, in more and more destinations. Our mission is to reinvent the resort experience to meet the new demands of today’s more sophisticated and socially aware travellers.
We started with stylish and cutting-edge resorts in Mauritius and The Maldives are expanding out from there.
Our aim is to create an environment where you can “make each moment matter by caring about what matters.” We do this by curating out of the ordinary experiences that help people get the most from their time with us. We want our guests to feel different when they leave: inspired, uplifted and transformed. As a modern hospitality company, we are deeply committed to making our business a force for good. Good for the earth, its people, and our communities.
We also take our responsibility very seriously in making a positive change and impact on the environment and the community, wherever we operate. For instance, did you know that LUX* South Ari Atoll has the world’s largest floating solar system at sea to power part of the resort?
Our original and signature brand is LUX* Resorts & Hotels which are luxury resorts designed for today’s sophisticated travellers to “help (them) celebrate life.” This is our signature brand and the one that has grown fastest so far.
But we’ve now created three new brands which share our innovative DNA and our ‘joie de vivre’ in slightly different ways. SALT is very much for the traveler who wants to be connected to local people and places and has a strong element of sustainability and a mission of giving back to the community. It is simplicity made stylish. We’re thrilled that our very first SALT of Palmar in Mauritius was recognized in the Time Magazine List of “World’s Greatest Places 2019”
Two further brands we’ll be introducing are Tamassa which is a vibrant reinvigoration of the all-inclusive resort concept, and Socio which is a stylish co-working, co-living and co-staying concept with adaptable spaces. We’ll make it easy for locals and visitors to connect, naturally. As soon as guests walk in, they’ll get this feeling that they belong.
We recognize that Singapore is a global centre for international hotel management companies and we want to be a part of this. We’ve also targeted the Asia Pacific region as strategically important for the development of our portfolio as well as being a key feeder market for our existing resorts.
We have several new and exciting properties slated for next year and many more beyond. Look out for LUX* Tea Horse Road Dali, Yunnan, China which opens in 2020 and is the third property in our LUX Tea Horse Road series in China, which makes for an ideal “journey” for travellers to visit all three.
We’re also opening our fourth resort in our home island of Mauritius – LUX* Grand Baie Resort & Residences, Mauritius in late 2020. This will be the first new built five-star resort in Mauritius in decades and promises to be nothing less than perfect.
And finally I am particularly excited about LUX* Phu Quoc, Resort and Residences Vietnam – which we hope to open by late next year. It comprises more than 150 over-water rooms, in the north of Phu Quoc island facing the national park. This resort will be the first of its kind in South East Asia and will offer a truly unique experience.
